New appointment at Toscano: Massimiliano Pitolli is the new Area Manager Rome for the Toscano SpA direct network
Susanna Fiorletta
Who is an Area Manager and what role do they play within the network of a large real estate group? We discussed it with Massimiliano Pitolli, recently appointed Area Manager Rome of Toscano SpA
You have been appointed the new Area Manager Rome for the Toscano direct network: how do you feel?
"I am satisfied. I consider this appointment the result of a journey spanning many years, which I approach with a strong sense of responsibility toward the company and all my colleagues."
Yours is a story of growth within the Group: how and where did you start?
"I joined Toscano at 19, starting my career in the direct Prenestina agency in Rome, and to this day I am grateful to those who opened the doors of that office to me, welcoming me with a smile. At 21 I became Sales Manager of that agency and, after two years, Sales Manager of the Trastevere agency, where I remained for a long time."
Why is the role of Area Manager important for the network?
"The Area Manager is someone who must be on the ground: listening, understanding, and helping colleagues in the agencies - in my case those in Rome - to continuously improve their methods and achieve increasingly satisfying results. For me, it means offering a reliable point of reference for colleagues. When I am by their side, my goal is to bring out the best in each person, helping them develop their skills. I start from a simple principle: if they grow, the company grows."
In your opinion, what qualities allowed you to become an Area Manager?
"I have always worked without setting limits for myself, approaching every task without prejudices that could hinder my growth. There is one aspect I consider fundamental: mistakes. By making mistakes, we identify what doesn’t work and are driven to find solutions to avoid repeating them. Especially for younger people, as I was at the beginning, mistakes are an ally, not an enemy. I have worked a lot on my mistakes, turning them first into knowledge and then into competence."
If previously, as a Sales Manager, you focused on the growth of your agency, you are now responsible for all those in the direct network of Rome.
"It is a great responsibility, which I approach with enthusiasm. The first year is certainly a period of adjustment, but I have set myself a clear goal: to consolidate a shared vision across the network, so that everyone can be proud of what they do every day. If by the end of the year we have satisfied collaborators, it will mean we have hit the target."
What other goals would you like to achieve?
"To keep improving. Only by working on myself can I truly be effective in helping others grow."
Finally, what would you like to say to your colleagues who are pursuing their growth path at Toscano?
"I am proof that at Toscano you can start from zero. Age, previous experience, or prejudice do not matter. What matters is what you choose to do every day and how you do it. Opportunities come, but you have to be ready to seize them."
